FINGER TYPE ELECTROLYTIC CELL

PURPOSE:To obtain a product having a uniform and high concn. by circulating fully or partly a formed aq. caustic alkali soln. to the lower part of cathode chambers through a conduit perforated with feed holes, and feeding the circulating liquid through a guide plate provided above the cathode to the inside of finger-shaped cathodes. CONSTITUTION:Plural finger-shaped cathodes 9 fixed to cathode attaching plates 12 perforated with holes for flowing of a catholyte and plural finger-shaped anodes 16 fixed to anode attaching plates 15 are divided in plural unit electrolytic cells 2 by means of partition plates 7 in such a way that the top ends of the cathodes 9 are positioned near the spacings between the root ends of the adjacent anodes 16 and that the top ends of the anodes 16 are positioned near the spacings between the root ends of the adjacent cathodes 9. The formed electrolyte is drawn from the cathode chambers and is fully or partly circulated to the lower part of the cathode chambers. A conduit 30 having feed ports 31 for feeding the catholyte to the cathode chambers and a guide plate 32 having the top end curved in the direction of the cathodes 9 above the respective ports 31 are provided between the plate 7 and the plate 12 in the lower part of the chathode chambers.
