PURPOSE:To rapidly detect the breakage of the drive shaft of an oil pump so that an alarm is issued to prevent a machine from being damaged, by providing a shaft breakage detecting device comprising gears, hydraulic means and electromagnetic relays, to a turbine shaft and the oil pump drive shaft directly coupled with the latter. CONSTITUTION:Jet ports 5a, 5b, 5.1a, 5.1b and pressure receiving ports 6a, 6b, 6.1a, 6.1b are arranged on opposite sides of gears fitted on a turbine shaft 1 and an oil pump shaft 2 which is directly coupled with the former to drive an oil pump. Electrical contacts are provided to the front ends of a timing cylinder 7a, 7b communicated with the pressure receiving ports, and are connected to timer relays PT, TT. Upon stopping of a turbine or upon normal operation thereof, either one of relay contacts PT, TT is opened. However if the drive shaft 3 is broken so that the pump shaft 2 abruptly stops, one of the cylinders 7a, 7b extends under hydraulic pressure and closes the associated contact to energize the relay PT so that both contacts PT, TT are closed, thereby an alarming device is actuated. |
