PURPOSE:To prevent freezing in a closure member used in a closure rod of a faucet and the like by a drain valve which is built in the housing of the closure member and is opened by a contraction of a thermo element to drain a small amount of tap water when the ambient temperature became low. CONSTITUTION:Under such condition where a closure rod 1 is rotated to cause a closure member 2 is pressed against the valve seat of a faucet through a packing 4 so that the faucet is turned off, when the temperature in the faucet is lowered in the neighborhood of 0 deg.C, the contraction of thermo sensing material 26a of a thermo element 26 which is inserted into the housing 22 of the closure member 2 causes a shaft 27 to be retracted downward. Due to such movement, a valve body 30 moves downward by means of a compression spring 33 to cause a drain valve A to open. Because of this, the water in the faucet flows into a chamber 16 via a through-passage 25 of a support member 21, housing 22 and drain valve A, and is drained out of the faucet through a slot 17. Although the amount of drain is small, it causes the water in the water pipe to flow so as to prevent freezing. |
