PURPOSE:To obtain the titled substance useful as the third component for ethylene-propylene rubber in high yield, by isomerizing a 5-alkenyl norbornene in the presence of KOH, potassium tertiary butoxide and DMSO. CONSTITUTION:In preparing the titled substance by isomerizing a 5-alkenyl norbornene, the reaction is carried out in the presence of a catalyst consisting of potassium tertiary butoxide, DMSO, and KOH as the third component. Instead of using extremely expensive and slightly obtainable potassium tertiary butoxide directly, a mixture of KOH and potassium tertiary butoxide obtained by reacting KOH with tertiary butanol may be used. Amounts of DMSO and potassium tertiary butoxide added are 0.1-50.0 and 0.005-1.0 (weight ratio) based on the raw material, respectively, and an amount of KOH is 0.1-100 (weight ratio) based on potassium tertiary butoxide. EFFECT:Has raised catalytic activity. |
