PURPOSE:To carry out more stably the operation of a prebaking type Al electrolytic cell by drawing an anode consumed by electrolysis and by implanting a new anode after preheating it when the consumed electrode is drawn from a part where metal flows slowly in the cell. CONSTITUTION:When each anode in a prebaking type Al electrolytic cell is consumed, it is exchanged for a new anode. At this time, temporary disproportion is caused, and it is especially remarkable when the new anode is implanted in a part where metal flows slowly and a solidified wall is liable to be formed. In order to solve the problem, an anode preheated to >=400 deg.C, preferably 800- 900 deg.C is implanted when a consumed electrode is drawn from a part where metal flows relatively slowly in the cell.
