PURPOSE:The titled repellent for preventing disorder of attachment and multiplication of noxious organism in fresh water for a long period, applicable to fishing nets of any material, containing tetrachloroisophthalonitrile and a maleimide as active ingredients. CONSTITUTION:A repellent containing tetrachloroisophthalonitrile and a maleimide shown by the formula (R is halogen, lower alkyl, or lower alkoxy; n is 1-3) as active ingredients. A blending ratio of the active components of tetrachloroisophthalonitrile to the compound shown by the formula by weight is preferably (5-95):(95-5). When it is used, prepared in the form of coating compound, solution, emulsion, etc. In order to keep antifouling effect for a long period, it is preferably applied in the form of a coating compound. In this case, 10-40wt% repellent is blended with a film-forming agent such as oil varnish, synthetic resin, etc. to prepare an antifouling coating compound. When it is applied to fishing nets, the repellent and the resin are dissolved in an organic solvent, impregnated into the fishing nets, and dried.
