PURPOSE:To permit a reserve mill to be used as a preliminary mill for recudtion burner, by a method wherein, in addition to an air feed line, an exhaust gas feed line is connected to the preliminary mill. CONSTITUTION:Mills 14 and 15 for reduction burner are connected through pulverized coal lines 20 and 21 to reduction burners 17 and 16 for a boiler 7. Meanwhile, a pulverized coal line 19 of a preliminary mill 18 is connected as a mill 1 for main burner and a pulverized coal line 6, and is further connected to pulverized coal lines 20 and 21 of a mill for reduction burner by means of lines 22 and 23. Meanwhile, in addition to an air line 24 through which an air flow passes, an exhaust gas line 26, branched from a different exhaust gas line 25 for feeding exhaust gas G to the mills 14 and 15 for reduction burner, is connected to the reserve mill 18. This permits a reduction burner to perform continuous combustion even if the mill for reduction burner fails in operation.
