PURPOSE:To eliminate a drier and to reduce an incinerating cost, by a method wherein high temperature incinerated ash right after discharge from an incinerating furnace is mixed in untreated sludge. CONSTITUTION:A part of high temperature incinerated ash discharged through a discharge port 5 is fed to a mixer 9 through a chute 8, and the rest is fed to a cooler 11 through a chute 10. Untreated sludge including a large amount of moisture content is also fed to the mixer 9 through a hopper 12 and a feeder 13, and the sludge is mixed thereat with the high temperature incinerated ash already fed. The sludge is heated by energy imparted from the incinerated ash to vaporize a part of water content and a smelling gas content. The sludge mixed with the incinerated ash is fed to a sludge feed hopper 15, and is fed to an incinerating furnace 1 through a sludge feeder 2. This eliminates a drier and the need for fuel for removal of moisture content, resulting in the possibility to reduce an incinerating cost.
