PURPOSE:To enable the close contact of a part of a glass plate which cannot be pressed with a male mold to the inner surface of a female mold, by placing a preheated glass plate on a preheated female mold, and pressing the plate from above with a male mold which fits the essential part of the female mold. CONSTITUTION:A preheated glass plate 1 is placed on a female mold 3 in a heating furnace 2, and transferred together with the female mold 3 to the position just below the heated male mold 5. The plate 1 is pressed from above with the male mold 5 and at the same time, the air in the female mold is evacuated through the exhaust port 4 to form the essential part of the article. Thereafter, the neck part is formed along the inner surface of the female mold 3 to obtain a formed glass article 6 having the center axis of the neck part crossed across the center axis of the essential part. The formed article 6 is cooled in the female mold 3, and the mold is divided to obtain an odd-shaped glass article 6.
