PURPOSE:To produce high-quality ferrous sulfate from a novel iron source, economically in high efficiency, by dissolving the OG dust of a converter in sulfuric acid, separating insoluble residue, crystallizing ferrous sulfate, and circulating the residual liquid after adjusting the sulfuric acid concentration. CONSTITUTION:OG dust 2 of a converter is supplied to the first dissolution tank 1 to dissolve the iron component in the dust 2 with sulfuric acid. The slurry containing insoluble residues is supplied to the second dissolution tank 5 and heated to effect the complete dissolution of iron component. The obtained slurry is sent to the filter 9 to separate the residue 11, which is removed from the filter 9 with the washing water 10. The filtrate is introduced into the crystallization tank 13, added with concentrated sulfuric acid 14 to raise the sulfuric acid concentration, and cooled to crystallize ferrous sulfate. The slurry is sent to the filter 16 and added with dilute sulfuric acid 17 for washing to remove the impurities, and the ferrous sulfate crystal is separated. The filtrate left after the separation of crystal is sent to the sulfuric acid conditioning tank 20, and recycled to the first dissolution tank 1 after the adjustment of the sulfuric acid concentration.
