摘要 PURPOSE:After reaction between Raney alloy, an alkali metal hydroxide and tritium water, tritium is released by heating the Raney alloy, thus effecting concentration of tritium water, economically, simply and with high-efficiency. CONSTITUTION:Tritium water is mixed with alkali metal hydroxide selected from lithium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide and sent from the inlet 2, through the storage trap 11 and opening 12 into he quartz reactor 1 composed of the inner tube 1' and the outer tube 1'' by the operation of the threaded valve 10. Thus, the mixture is allowed to react with Raney alloy. The reaction is carried out at about 0-50 deg.C to liberate a large amount of hydrogen gas, further, the gas in the system is circulated by means of the heater 8 and the cooler 9 to accelerate the uniformization of tritium distribution. After the reaction, the Raney alloy 3 is heated with a heater 18 at lower than 1,000 deg.C to release tritium, while the unreacting water is frozen in the liquid nitrogen trap 4, whereby tritium gas is collected through the fourway-type cock 17 in the sampling tube 6.
