PURPOSE:To luxuriously finish a rugged pattern on a designed sizing panel or the like to be used for the outerior or interior finish work of a building, by applying undercoat paint mixed with sand particles onto the surface of a substrate on which a rugged pattern is furmed and then topcoat thick film paint of high accuracy onto protuberant parts only, and forming the top of the protuberant part into a flat surface of predetermined dimensions. CONSTITUTION:Paint 2 mixed with fine granular aggregate is applied as an undercoat onto a raw plate 1 on which a rugged pattern comprising irregularly scattered protuberant parts 1a of 1-3mm. in height has been formed by mass production. As said fine aggregate, a lightweight material of 0.1-2.0mm. in size, e.g. silica sand or KANSUIISHI (a kind of limestone), is used. The amount of application of the paint 2 is pref. 80-500g/ m<2>. Highly viscous thick film paint 3 of a synthetic emulsion type having viscosity of 50-500PS is applied as a topcoat by a roll onto the raw plate 1 coated with the undercoat paint directly or after being dried at one time. Within a few hrs. immediately after the application of the topcoat paint, pressing treatment with a roll is performed to the paint applied onto the patterned protuberant parts, to reform the tops of the protuberant parts into flat surfaces 4 of predetermined dimensions. Thus, the ornamental coating having a rugged pattern is completed.
