PURPOSE:To maintain the performance of a roller and improve its durability by replacing only its elastic surface layer by providing the elastic surface layer which has the property of separation from an unfixed body detachably to the surface of the roller body which has an elastic coating layer. CONSTITUTION:The pressure roller 2 consists of the roller body formed by adhering the relatively thick elastic body layer 22 to the outer circumferential surface of a metallic roller core 21 and the surface coating layer 23 formed by fitting the relatively thin tube type flexibe elastic body having heat resistance and the property of separation detachably to the roller body. When this pressure roller 2 is driven while pressed against a fixing roller 1, the elastic body layer 22 secure the area of press contacting with the fixing roller and the surface coating 23 with the heat resistance and property of separation holds the surface heat resistance and property of surface separation. Then, a deterioration with the lapse of time in the performance of the pressure roller is recovered by replacing only the coating layer 23 with new one to obtain initial characteristics, thus improving the durability. |
