PURPOSE:To obtain an original positioning guide and original feeding member by making the original setting position where an original is set on platen glass and the scanning start reference position of a scanning optical system opposite with respect to the moving direction of the scanning optical system. CONSTITUTION:While a platen cover 17 is open, the original is mounted correctly on the left-side surface 2b of the platen glass 2. When the cover 17 is closed, a shaft 25 rotates as shown by an arrow to rotate a shaft 33 through the 1st and the 2nd gears 27 and 34 as shown by an arrow, and a driving shaft 13a is rotated through bevel gears 35 and 36 as shown by an arrow to move a belt 15 as shown by an arrow, thereby feeding the original to the side of one flank 2a along the glass 2. When the original is sent to the scanning start position, the original cuts off light from a light source 19 for a sensor 18, which does not sense the light any more to detect the original reaching the scanning start reference position. Thus, the original set on the side of the left flank 2b of the platen glass 2 is sent to the scanning start reference position by utilizing the closing operation of the platen glass 17. |
