PURPOSE:A composition for oral purpose that contains a compound selected from 1-methacryloxythane-1,1-diphosphonic acid, its salt, a reaction product from phytic acid and glycidyl methacrylate and its salt, thus showing the effect of inhibiting the formation of dental calculus. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition contains a compound selected from the compound of formula I or its salts such as alkali metal, alkaline earth metal or ammonium salts, products resulting from reaction between phytic acid and glycidyl methacrylate in an aqueous alkali such as a compound of formula II (n is 1-2; m is 4-5 where n+m is 6) and its salts so that the compound accounts for 0.01-10wt%, preferably 0.1-3wt%, in the total composition. Since the composition effectively hinders the formation of dental calculus, it is used effectively to prevent or treat periodontosis. It is used in the form of tooth paste, mouth wash, troche, chewing gum or dental pasta. |
