The plastics bottle sealing cap has a screwthread with two or more starts, together with locking members on it and the bottle to hold it in the shut position. The length of the individual thread sections (6) on each of the number (n) of threads is equal to the circumference of the cap (5) and bottle (10), 2n being equal to or less than 8, and preferably 3n equal to or less than 5. The forward or rear end of one or more sections forms a stop (8,13). The locking members (14,16) snap into engagement behind each other and also behind the stops.
