PURPOSE:To perform combustion simultaneously with desulfurizing treatment, to reduce an installation cost, and to prevent settlement of pulverized coal in a mixing tank or during conveyance through piping, by a method wherein water in a slurry condition and a desulfurizing agent are added to pulverized coal to bring the mixture into a slurry state and the coal is burnt. CONSTITUTION:A desulfurizing agent 4, water 3 in a slurry condition, and a catalyst 5 are added and mixed with pulverized coal 2, fed in a mixing tank 1, and the mixture is uniformly agitated by an agitator 7 to prepare a mixture slurry 6. The mixed desulfurizing agent 4 is dissolved in water to provide viscosity, and if it attains a saturating point, particle concentration is increased. Production of viscosity in water results in prevention of settlement of the mixed pulverized coal 2 which becomes hard to settle. Thereafter, the mixture slurry 6 is fed through a mixture slurry feed pipe 8 to the boiler 10 side with the aid of a transport pump 8, and it is fed through a burner 18 to the inside of the boiler 10. In which case, water is increased in viscosity, and thereby pulverized coal is prevented from settling in a feed pipe 9.
