805,600. Bearings. GAMBIN & CIE. July 27, 1956 [March 23, 1956], No. 23271/56. Class 12 (1). A sleeve 3, in which a shaft 5 is rotatably mounted by bearings 6... 9, is adapted to slide longitudinally within a bore 2 in a housing 1 and is maintained in close engagement with one half of the bore by two wedges 11. Each wedge 11 is bounded by two part-circular surfaces, one surface 12 coinciding with the outer cylindrical surface of the sleeve 3 and the other surface 13 having a smaller diameter and an axis slightly inclined to that of the sleeve 3. The wedges are adapted to slide in grooves 14 in the housing 1 and are located in the longitudinal direction by the heads of screws 15, 15<SP>1</SP> mounted in the housing 1. The screws have frusto-conical surfaces 17 which engage frustoconical surfaces 18 machined on the end of the wedges. More than two wedges may be provided and the surfaces 13 may be of polygonal cross-section. |
