PURPOSE:To attain safe operation of a vehicle, by setting a pseudo accelerator opening based on the longitudinal inclination angle of the vehicle body when an idle switch is OFF in a system for controlling the injection quantity of fuel on the basis of the pseudo accelerator opening when an abnormal accelerator opening signal is detected. CONSTITUTION:In operation of an engine, an ECU 29 calculates the optimum fuel quantity from the outputs of an engine-speed sensor 46, an intake-air temperature sensor 24, a water-temperature sensor 35, etc. and controls a solenoid 37 and a timing control valve 39 of an injection pump 31 according to the optimum fuel quantity and the injection timing. At the same time, the ECU 29 picks up the output of an accelerator sensor 36 and controls the injection quantity of fuel on the basis of a pseudo accelerator opening changed by the state of ON or OFF of an idle switch 44 when it is detected that some trouble is caused with the sensor 36. With such an arrangement, when the idle switch 44 is ON, the pseudo accelerator opening is reduced to zero. On the other hand, when the idle switch 44 if OFF, the pseudo accelerator opening is determined according to the output of an inclination sensor 43 for detecting the longitudinal inclination angle of a vehicle body. |
