PURPOSE:To cure a sealant quickly with a markedly reduced amount of a curing catalyst, by reacting a curing catalyst with a sealant which contains CaCO3 surface treated with a specified surface treating agent. CONSTITUTION:A surface treating agent which consists of at least one metal salt selected from among silver, copper, tin, aluminum and iron salts of a 10C or higher organic acid such as fatty acid or resin acid (e.g. zinc stearate) is added to an aqueous suspension of CaCO3. After agitation, the solution is filtered, dried and crushed to produce surface treated CaCO3. A sealant which contains the CaCO3 is cured by addition of a curing catalyst consisting of at least one metal salt selected from among silver, copper, tin, aluminum and iron salts of a 10C or lower organic acid such as fatty acid or resin acid (e.g. tin 2-ethylhexanoate).
