Imidazolylureas I (Ar=alkylphenyl, halophenyl, dihalophenyl, alkoxyphenyl, dialkylphenyl, dialkoxyphenyl), useful as anti hypertensives, antidiarrheal, antiiritable bowel syndrome, and antisecretory, were prepd. by reaction of 2-aminoimidazole with arylisocyanate. Thus, 2-aminoimidazole. HCl in DMF was treated with Et3N followed by 2, 6-Me2C6H3NCO to give I (Ar=2, 6-Me2C6H3).
