A cooling device for a cryogenic magnet system comprises a superconductive magnet coil (32) which encloses a sample space (36). The magnet coil (32) is surrounded by at least one intermediate plate (26, 29) and is held in an evacuated outer sleeve (22). Provided on the outer sleeve (22) is a motor-driven refrigerator (11) which actively cools the at least one intermediate plate (26, 29), by means of a cooling arm (18) which is guided through the outer sleeve (22). In order to compensate for interference fields which are caused by the motor drive of the refrigerator (11), a sensor device is provided in order to detect these magnetic and/or mechanical interference signals. The sensor signal controls at least one coil (62) in order to compensate for the interference field acting in the sample space (36) (Fig. 1). <IMAGE>
