A method for compensating for non-linear amplitude and/or phase distortions in radio-frequency-end transmission devices of transmission systems for analog or digital transmission signals, particularly for non-linear distortions in microwave transmitters, characterised in that in the transmission system, at least one detection circuit is used which outputs a pulse-code-modulated identification signal which, in coded form, is a linear or non-linear function of the sampled and quantised instantaneous power of the transmission signal passing through the radio-frequency-end transmission devices, that at least one digital convertor is used which converts the pulse-code-modulated identification signal into a pulse-code-modulated correction signal, each code word of the pulse-code-modulated identification signal being associated with a code word of the pulse-code-modulated correction signal, which can be predetermined in accordance with the non-linear transmission characteristics of the radio-frequency-end transmission devices, and that in the transmission system, following the detection circuit, at least one correction circuit is used in which the transmission signal is modulated as linear or non-linear function of the decoded pulse-code-modulated correction signal.
