PURPOSE:To enable construction with the construction period reduced by supporlting a tank on a ship-bottom constituting member in which a double bottom, both-side hopper tanks and stools are formed, docking said members with tanks successively in a watered construction dock and, after draining the dock, joining the parts to each constituting part of a hull. CONSTITUTION:An appropreate number of double bottom parts 4 having hopper tanks on the both side edges and stools 6 on the front and rear edges, are constructed and launched. An independent tank 11 is mounted on the double bottom part 4 while a necessary thermal insulation work is provided. Each double bottom part 4 with an independent tank 11 mounted on it, is successively docked in so that the bows 3 in a construction dock 1 may be connected to it, and is positioned and connected using fittings provided on the stool 6. Then the dock 1 is drained, each part is joined, and a hull is constructed. Thereby the construction of a ship having independent tanks can be carried out without need for using a large crane, etc., or separately performing thermal insulation work, etc.
