An element which is suitable for covering walls, façades and ceilings and also as a partition or boundary for areas and rooms is formed from individual elements which are each of the same shape and have the same dimensions and consists of a plurality of longitudinal and transverse wires. These individual elements have bent edges and are thus of panel-like construction. As a result, not only is the stability of the individual elements increased, but a simple and expedient method of connecting the individual elements to one another is obtained at the same time. This can be achieved, for example, by inserting rods. In particular, the longitudinal sides are stabilised by additional longitudinal wires, while transverse wires are arranged in groups in each case in the upper and lower region of an individual element in order to fix the connecting rods. <IMAGE>
