PURPOSE:To improve the quality of the coated surface of a metal wire, while inhibiting the adhesion of oxides onto said surface, by letting the metal wire run through a gap between two dies provided below the liquid surface of a molten metal at both side walls of a hot-dip coating tank opposite to each other to coat said metal wire. CONSTITUTION:At both side walls of a hot-dip coating tank 1 opposite to each other, two dies 3, 4 having die openings slightly larger in diameter than that of a metal wire W to be treated are provided. The metal wire W is inserted into said dies 3, 4, a coating molten metal 2 is received in the tank 1, and the liquid surface of said molten metal is held higher than the die opening. Hereon, the metal wire W is circulated through the molten metal 2 by continuously moving said metal wire W along an approximately horizontal direction. Thus, the quality of the coated product is improved while inhibiting the adhesion of oxides on the surface of the metal wire W. |
