Provided at a distance from the metallic inner pipe of a thermally-insulated pipeline is an alarm conductor which is at an electrical potential with respect to the inner pipe. The insulation value between the inner pipe and the alarm conductor is measured continuously, and an alarm is triggered if the value is less than a minimum value. The alarm conductor is arranged on the upper side of the insulation layer. Measuring loops are connected to the alarm conductor at an axial distance from one another, which measuring loops surround the insulation layer.
