The present invention is directed towards a photographic method for calibrating medical X-ray photographs and a photographic dosimeter. X-ray photographs have frequently been disadvantageously noted to have different optical densities and contrasts. In order to achieve comparability, the invention proposes to project directly onto the original X-ray photographs one or more reference absorptions of the X-rays on metal inserts of a prescribed type and size, in order in this way to detect specific photographic variables. <IMAGE>
