PURPOSE:To reduce a treatment cost and to prevent pollution by adding a detergent, boiling water, etc. to oil-contg. rust sludge to float the oil-component and washing the settled sludge with an org. chlorine contg. solvent then separating the solvent. CONSTITUTION:Oil-contg. rust sludge is supplied through a supply line into a hot washing flotation tank, boiling water or steam is supplied through a supply line 2 therein and a detergent is supplied through a supply line 3 therein. These materials are mixed in said tank to float the oil-component and to settle the sludge. The oil-component in a floating layer 5 is treated in a centrifugal separator 6, by which the oil is recovered. On the other hand, the sludge settled in the tank 4 is fed by a conveyor 8 to a solvent tank 9 where the sludge is degrease processed by an org. chlorine contg. solvent 10 such as trichloroethylene, perchloroethylene or the like. The solvent 10 and sludge after the treatment are fed to a sludge separating tank 13, and are separated to the sludge and the solvent by a vibrating screen 15.
