PURPOSE:To obtain novel antibiotic RK-87-A, by cultivating a specific strain belonging to the genus Chaetomium. CONSTITUTION:Chaetomium sp.RK-87-A(FERM P6935) is cultivated aerobically to give novel antibiotic RK-87-A. This antibiotic has the following physical and chemical properties. Molecular formula: C29H42O5S. Molecular weight: 530. Ultraviolet light spectrum: showing absorption in methanol at 222nm and 280nm. Infrared absorption spectrum: 3360, 2900, 1680, 1560, and 1410(cm<-1>). Solubility: easily soluble in CHCl3, and CH3OH, slightly soluble in water. Color reaction: positive in iodine, and potassium permanganate reaction. Color of substance: colorless crystalline powder. Biological activity: showing differentiating and introducing action on leukemia cell of erythrocyte and medullary leukemia cell of mouse. |
