PURPOSE:To adjust the width of a rolling material without providing a press separately from a rolling mill by providing a flat surface part, as a die, to a vertical mill itself and pressing the material by the rolling reduction providing operation of a rolling reduction mechanism. CONSTITUTION:An ordinary rolling part 1a and a pressing die part 1b are formed in the circumferential surface of the body part of a vertical roll 1 to provide flat surface parts 1c to both sides of the part 1b, and a housing 2 is enabled to move vertically and to operate for providing a rolling down force. Next, a rolling material W is fixed within a gap between the rolls 1, 1 by adjusting the part 1b to the height of the material W, and the end parts in the sheet width direction of the material W are pressed by the surface parts 1c by applying forces F in the arrow directions to adjust the width of the material W. Thereafter, an ordinary rolling is performed by adjusting the parts 1a to the height of the material W. In this way, the generation of a fish tail in adjusting the material W width is prevented, and the need for providing a press separately from a mill is eliminated. |
