PURPOSE:To effectively suppress an overvoltage due to chopping by providing a rectifier for rectifying the AC power of a power converter, an energy absorber and an energy emission unit as means for suppressing a high voltage. CONSTITUTION:AC power is supplied from an AC power source 1 to a power converter 2 to be converted to DC power, and a DC voltage is supplied to the armature 11 of a motor through a smoothing reactor 9 and a pole change switching circuit 10. The energy stored in a power inductance ls when a GTO thyristor is turned OFF is absorbed by an energy absorber 6 through a rectifier 5. The absorbed energy is discharged by an energy emission unit 30. |
