PURPOSE:To obtain a high-temp. filter for a light-water reactor reducing efficiently the amt. of radioactive waste in a decontamination process by using an alloy consisting of Ni and Fe and >=1 kind of metallic oxides selected from a group including SnO2, Fe3O4 and MnO2. CONSTITUTION:The 50-70wt% powdered alloy or mixed powder consisting of 30-45wt% powdered Ni and 55-70wt% powdered Fe and 30-50wt% of >=1 kind of powdered metallic oxides selected from a group including SnO2, Fe3O4 and MnO2 are sufficiently mixed. The obtained mixed powder is packed in a prescribed mold, and compressed into a green compact which is then sintered in the open air or in an inert gas atmosphere to obtain a sintered filter. Besides, the Ni component in Ni-Fe combination metal contributes to corrosion-resistance. The correlation between Ni content and weight loss is shown inthe figure when the filter is dipped in a 5% nitric acid soln. at 25 deg.C to test the corrosion- resistance.
