PROCESS FOR THE REMOVAL OF THE FORMYL GROUP FROM N-FORMYL PEPTIDES AND ESTERS THEREOF

Formyl group was removed from the reaction product obtained by the reaction of N-formyl peptide or its ester and hydrazine or I (R=C1-5 alkyl, cycloalkyl, arylamino group), at 20-150≰C, pH 1-3.5 in solvent contg. -C1-5 alcohol. Thus, 3.2g N-formyl-α-L-aspartyl-L-phenyl alanin methylester in 32ml EtOH was mixed with 3.2ml H20 and adjusted to pH 2 with 0.5ml 3% HCl. The mixt. was heated to 70≰C and adjusted to pH 1.5-3.0 with 3% HCl again to giveα-L-aspartyl-L-phenyl alanine-methyl ester.
