PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of space charge and to remove crosstalk, noises, etc. by driving an electrooptical crystal element under a voltage having an AC waveform of frequency sufficiently higher than that of a switch controlling signal pulse. CONSTITUTION:A transparent ceramics PLZT having a secondary electrooptical effect is used for the electrooptical crystal element 2, and LiNbO3, SBN or the like can be also used. A square wave V2 is used as the AC waveform. When voltage V'2 having the AC waveform of higher frequency than that of a switch controlling signal pulse V1 is applied to the element 2, no space charge phenomenon is generated even if driving is continued for a long period, so that the generation of crosstalk, and noises caused by said phenomenon can be removed. The driving voltage in this case is the AC waveform included in a wide range up to 600V/mm. and several OMEGAHz. |
