PURPOSE:To attain the recording and transmission of data of high density by converting the data series into a binary code of 5 bits so as to make the number of zeros one of 3-9 between adjacent 1 and 1. CONSTITUTION:The data series is divided into blocks every continuous two bits. Then the 2-bit binary code of each block is converted into a 5-bit binary code which is obtained by adding the 2-bit binary code to the 3-bit binary codes (000), (001), (01) and (100) respectively so that the number of 0 between adjacent 1 and 1 is set at one of 3-9 after conversion. As a result, it is possible to increase the minimum inversion interval and reduce the maximum inversion interval, of the waveform of the signal obtained after modulation and written to a recording medium in comparison with 3PM (three position modulation). |
