There have been prepared novel benzo[a]phenazine derivatives of the formula <IMAGE> wherein R1 is hydrogen or methoxy, R2 is hydrogen, methyl, acetyl, haloacetyl or substituted aminoalkyl, and R3 is ethoxy or substituted amino. These compounds are useful as antimicrobiological agents.
