PURPOSE:To obtain a fiber Raman laser which has a simple structure and can readily alter its output wavelength by compensating the group delay time difference between a pumping optical pulse generated from the first optical fiber and an induced Raman optical pulse by the second optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber of a fiber Raman laser which has an optical fiber for generating an induced Raman light, a pumping pulse laser source 1 of the optical fiber, and a pair of induced Raman light reflecting mirrors 4 disposed at both ends of the optical fiber is composed of the first optical fiber 2 having the first zero dispersion wavelength and the second optical fiber 6 having the second zero dispersion wavelength, connected in cascade thereto. The wavelength of the source 1 is between the first zero dispersion wavelength and the second zero dispersion wavelength, and the second optical fiber 6 has an induced Raman light pulse generated in the Raman gain band of the first optical fiber 2 and a length for compensating the group delay time difference between the pumping optical pulses. |
