<p>PURPOSE:To improve the running performance of a tape by providing chromium oxide which is obtained by converting a chromium compound by heat to a tape running part on the surface of a base. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a guide pin 6phiX16l(mm.) for a VHS type video cassette tape is treated thermally after a tape guide is dipped in a solution consisting principally of chromium oxide with, for example, 1.6-1.7 specific gravity. This cycle is repeated twice - ten times while the heating temperature is raised gradually from 310-700 deg.C. Consequently, a green chromium oxide is obtained on the surface. Then, the S/N ratio of the video tape which is run by using this guide for 100hr is compared with that of a tape which uses hard chrome plating. Consequently, the S/N ratio is superior as shown in a table because the tape has superior running ability as compared with conventional products. Specially, this method is superior in cost and effective industrially.</p> |
