PURPOSE:To make it possible to accurately perform automatic paper supply and to enable high quality printing, by moving a holding means for holding recording paper to a recordable position to a retracted position or the recordable position corresponding to the operations of a first and a second drive means. CONSTITUTION:The paper PA charged to a lid unit 9 is supplied to the contact point of a platen 1 at a stand-by position and a first pinch roller 2 by a first drive means for driving a paper supply roller 8 and a second movable pinch roller 3 is retracted from the platen 1 not rotated because of the non-operation of a second drive means. In the next step, when the platen 1 is rotated, the paper 9A is wound therearound to be fed to a recordable position and, during the operation of the second drive means, the movable pinch roller 3 is moved to the side of the platen 1. Therefore, the paper PA is automatically sent to the recordable position through the stand-by position and, because one of the first and the second drive means is operated and the other one of them is not operated, automatic paper supply and feed can be accurately performed and high quality printing can be obtained. |
