The panels which carry e.g. sunblinds or awnings have a hollow profiled connector piece of which one is the outer arm and the other the sliding inner profile. This acts as a hinging fork piece. This incorporates a metal pressure plate (4) and metal clamping plate (5) which has a vertical threaded bore to accommodate a socket screw. The unit provides a telescopic outrigger arrangement which may be adjustably locked in any required position, has no protruding parts and is prevented from becoming loose.
