摘要 A method of treating an aluminium member to form a dielectric surface layer with a resistiivty above 10<1><2> ohm-centimetres for electrostatic imaging and a member as formed by hardcoat anodizing to form an oxide surface layer with a plurality of pores incorporating a dehydrating step and sealing step, the member being heated to 80 DEG C. to 300 DEG C. The surface layer is formed from compounds of Group II or III metals with fatty acids and polished to a finish better than 5.08 x 10<-><7> m (20 microinch). Apparatus for forming a toner image on a receptor in which the rollers (37,25) are in a non-parallel axial orientation may use an aluminium member as above. Also these integers can be incorporated to produce images on two sides of a receptor.
