PURPOSE:To provide org. optical glass made of a polymer contg. a specified divinyl compound as a polymerizable component and having superior optical characteristics and workability. CONSTITUTION:Org. optical glass is made of a polymer consisting of 10- 100wt% divinyl compound represented by formula I (where A is a bifunctional group having -S- unit; X is halogen, alkyl, alkoxy or alkylthio; and each of a and b is 0-4) and of 0-90wt% monomer whose homopolymer has >=1.5 refractive index. The bifunctional group having -S- unit in the formula I is represented by formula II (where R is 0-8C alkylene; (n) is 0-3; three or more S atoms do not directly bond to one another; and when R has no C atom, it is preferable that (n) is 0). A divinyl compound represented by the formula I can be easily synthesized by a known reaction. For example, alpha-chloromethylstyrene is reacted with an alkali metallic sulfide such as Na2S to obtain a compound represented by formula III. |
