The round pick-up baler for hay, straw etc. has a pair of parallel sidewalls enclosing the baling chamber. Rollers (14) with their axes at right angles to the sidewalls (2) are held by guides so as to form a cylindrical chamber with them. The rollers are driven along a cylindrical surface (17), the distance between adjacent rollers being sufficiently small to prevent the crop passing between them. Thus during formation the bale is supported only on the rollers, and slides over the sidewalls.
