In this arrangement, the one set of binary values is converted (211) into an individual, complete, low-frequency sine-wave oscillation and the other set of binary values is converted into a sequence comprising a high-frequency oscillation packet and an individual, complete, low-frequency sine-wave oscillation. At the receiving end, only a comparator as a limiter, a low-pass filter and a threshold value detector are required in order to generate from the transmitted signal (211) a sequence (214) of equal-length pulses with intervals of different lengths. The binary values (208) can easily be obtained (206) from this sequence. Due to the low cost at the receiving end, the arrangement is particularly suitable for the transmission of data from one transmitter to a large number of receivers. <IMAGE>
