This device for blocking and locking shelf crosspieces or the like in their profiled support uprights consists of a jack sliding at each crosspiece end. This jack comprises a nut 6 which can be moved along a sloping plane by the action of a screw 15 placed in the crosspiece and engaging in a hole 7 with right-hand thread of the nut. This nut acts on the notch of a cam 12 articulated to a shaft 11 of the jack and whose free end is a head 13 having conical sides coming into contact with the two small sides of the profiled section in order to lock the crosspiece, while a T-shaped gripping flange 10 is stressed in the opposite direction by the nut for locking it into the profiled section. <IMAGE>
