Liquid-crystalline mixtures

Liquid-crystalline mixtures are described which contain from about 10 to about 75 mol% of one or more trans-phenyldioxanes of the formula <IMAGE> in which R<1> is a straight-chain alkyl group having 3 to 7 carbon atoms, from about 5 to 30 mol % of one or more phenylpyrimidines of the formula <IMAGE> in which R<1> is as defined above, and from about 2 to about 20 mol % of one or more phenylbenzoates of the formula <IMAGE> in which R<2> is a straight-chain alkyl group having 2 to 7 carbon atoms, and their preparation and their use in electro-optical devices. The novel mixtures are distinguished, in particular, by low operating and threshold voltages and low viscosities.
