PURPOSE:To detect position of a buried electric conductor in a short time by a simple procedure by conducting an AC to the buried electric conductor to measure the direction of an AC magnetic field generated in the two points whose mutual positions are well-known. CONSTITUTION:One 2' of terminal wires 2, 2' connected to the buried electric conductor 1 is gounded, AC is connected to the other 2, and an alternating current I is conducted to the buried electric conductor 1. Subsequently, an AC magnetic field detector 4 is attached to a rack base 5 which is rotatable in the horizontal and vertical directions, and installed at the point P1 of height (h) of the buried electric conductor 1. Next, the detector 4 is rotated on the horizontal and vertical surfaces, and to measure the direction of the maximum output of the detector 4 namely, direction of an AC magnetic field H generated by the alternating current I. When an angle made by the horizontal surface of this direction, and an angle in the horizontal surface are denoted as beta1 and theta1, respectively, theta1 shows a right angle direction to the vertical surface containing the buried electric conductor. Subsequently, the detector 4 is moved to a point P2 spaced by x0 in the direction of theta1, and a direction beta2 of the magnetic field H is measured. In accordance with this measurement, the buried depth r0' of the buried electric conductor 1, and distance x1, x2 to the part right above the buried electric conductor 1 are calculated from an expression, respectively. |
