The invention relates to a device for remotely treating a surface after inspecting it. A movable unit comprises a profilometric probe 16, a mechanical polishing system, such as a motorised grinder 18, and an electrolytic polishing system 20, all three arranged so as to move in three dimensions in front of a surface to be treated 50. A computer processing and calculation unit 30 compares the real profile such as measured by virtue of a sweep of the probe with a desired profile, contained in a memory. When the local offset between the two profiles is greater than a predetermined threshold value a, the unit 30 triggers, via a programmable automaton 38, a mechanical polishing at this position. When all the said non-compatible sectors have been polished, and no measured offset is greater than a over the entire surface, an electrolytic polishing is carried out. <IMAGE>
