A chain guide, in particular for anchor chains of floating platforms, has a sheave housing (1) which is pivotably mounted (2, 3) on a bearing block (4). The sheave housing comprises a plurality of rotatably mounted sheaves (8, 9, 10) which are arranged in such a way that the load angle (a) of the chain (15) is generally the same and becomes relatively small for each of the sheaves. The lowermost sheave (10) is arranged at a sufficiently large distance from the pivot axis (14) of the sheave housing in order to obtain the necessary torque for the pivoting of the sheave housing without any considerable oblique pull on the chain. The nose-shaped section of the sheave housing is provided with two supporting blocks (12) which only come into operation if the chain (15') is subjected to abnormally high loading. The sheave housing is equipped on the inside with two guide rails (13) which form a slot between them for every second chain link and the top side of which forms a supporting surface and guide for the other chain links.
